About Donnelly Fine Chocolates
Since 1988, Donnelly Fine Chocolates have been made by hand from the finest French and Belgian couvertures.
Donnelly Chocolates offers a variety of options ranging from bite-sized chocolates to award-winning ice cream bars. Each batch is made fresh, averaging around 150 pounds of chocolate and 80 pounds of caramel made per day.
Richard Donnelly began his journey when he traveled to Paris and Brussels. He attended an apprenticeship where he gained his knowledge from one of the best chocolate makers at the time. Richard was inspired and eager to reinvent chocolate in America to parallel the quality and care of the chocolate he tasted. From that point on, his love for handcrafting chocolate grew alongside his business.
Richard established Donnelly Chocolates with his brother, Henry, in 1988. Since then, they have been located in the heart of the Santa Cruz community selling artisan chocolates.
Donnelly Chocolates received internationally acclaim as having the "Best Artisan Chocolate" at the Eurochocolate Festival in Perugia, Italy in 1988.
Donnelly Chocolates was named "One of the 10 Best" in the world from National Geographic in 2012
Donnelly Chocolates has won the Best Chocolate category in "Good Times Best of" awards for many years.
Richard takes pride in these awards as he has mastered the skill of using exotic ingredients; some including cardamom, ginger, and lavender.
